- Kulzer diamond instruments are highly abrasive. The particle volume on the working section is approx. 10 percent greater than that of comparable instruments. This provides more cutting surfaces during preparation.
- The difference can be seen under a scanning electron microscope. The diamond particles of the Kulzer instrument project much higher from the bond layer.
- The deeper chip escape channel can hold more abraded material. The cooling channels permit the coolant to circulate effectively and keep the particle layer free of abrasive debris. This ensures an optimum cutting capacity for each particle.
- The interaction of this technology ensures that the pulp is protected from overheating. This makes the Kulzer instrument suitable for atraumatic preparation. In contrast the compared instrument has a poorer abrasion capacity due to the high volume of bonder. The working pressure may produce thermal loading of the tooth and pulp.
